I feel extremely honored and express my great pleasure to bring our official website (www.doiednepal.gov.com.np) in the electronic form. In this occasion, I am delighted to express my best wishes and welcome to all of you for investing your valuable time in surfing this site.

Directorate of Industrial Entomology Development (DOIED) is one among the twelve Directorates working under the Department of Agriculture. Ministry of Agriculture is an apex body of the Government of Nepal, under which the Department and Directorates are being functional. DOIED, is primarily mandated for formulating policies and technical guidance in the area of Apiculture, Sericulture and Mushroom cultivation. Its vision, mission and objectives are principally guided with the priorities of the Government of Nepal towards the up-liftment of the livelihood of the rural people through effective implementation and promotion of these components.

It works directly under the Department of Agriculture throughout its command area in Nepal; however, its specific activities are being concentrated in the farm, centre, and farmers' resource centre in pocket area development concept. It works in close collaboration with, private sectors, national and international organizations involving in research, development, marketing and fabricating of the seri-products. It believes on synergistic efforts of the concerned stakeholders for its outputs. Among three components, it has well established farm and centres in Sericulture and Apiculture, which in turn involving in catering respective services however; it lacks official branches in mushroom production. Kopasi, Kavre has been a leading branch for the promotion of Sericulture activities and Godavari for Apiculture development in Nepal. Trainings to the farmers and producers and distribution of quality spawn are under-way under the mushroom promotion activities. I sincerely acknowledge the JICA support in sericulture promotion and development pursuit. It is high time and I sincerely request JICA to extend arms to help DOIED to extend its program especially in sericulture and mushroom production to the wider scale. I am aware that we have a large well wisher community beyond the country that stands in favor of DOIED at difficult times. I sincerely thank that community and request for continued support in future.

As a predominant player for the development of the industrial entomology, DOIED has an important role to play in the provision of effective services in Nepal. While challenges to develop industrial entomology lie on our way, we have to made short-term, medium term and long term plans with great breadth of vision to meet these challenges. To address the immediate challenges on these components, DOIED has been considering past efforts that could be reflected in present needs and changing scenario. It has given a high priority for addressing later generation problem that will meet the needs of all the stakeholders involving in this sector as envisaged by the Government of Nepal. It is now important for us to reassess our working approach and formulation of the policies which will be conducive for the investment and involvement of the private sectors. To achieve this noble aim, DOIED should show increased professionalism in its endeavor. At the same time, untiring efforts and commitment of the staff in team work is duly recognized. As high value low volume commodities play an important role in the economic development of the country, I wish to reaffirm our commitment to cater its services more reliable, qualitative and accessible as per the aspirations of fall concerned. Furthermore, DOIED is focusing on the mass production of the seri-products and exportable honey by increasing linkages with research and private organizations. Our staffs have shown consistent strives for betterment and dedication throughout the period. I am thankful to the entire staff of DOIED as well as working in its sister organizations in various parts of the country. We as a service provider, our satisfaction are solely dependent upon recipient satisfaction. Hence, we are determined to amend working principles, policies and modalities for making it more recipient friendly.

At last, I would like to take this opportunity to request all our recipients, donor agencies, employees and other well-wishers for their incessant support and cooperation in an attempt to achieve our goals and thank them heartily for their good wishes at all times. At last I apologies to our valued recipients, for not meeting their expectations and sincerely thank them for bearing with us during adversities.
